Evaluation of the Preliminary Task

Evaluation of Preliminary Task

WWW: I believe we displayed a good eye line match where I looked through the door and then another shot was of the person sitting in the room looking towards the door. This was followed by another shot of me looking. This highlighted what I was looking at through the door and conveyed how we were both looking at each other. Also I think we stuck to the 180 degree rule well because we made sure we didn't break it and kept watching the shots back to ensure it was flowing correctly. We checked the camera stayed on the same side so that the rule would work. I also believe our shot reverse shot was quite effective. It captured the conversation well because the first shot showed a small section of my head and shoulder but the main focus was on the other person and then this reversed so that I was the main focus. Then finally it changed again.
I think we managed to get the main idea of some of these shots but they could be improved to make it look more effective.

EBI: I believe we need to take more care in the focus of our shots as well as how they actually look. In some of the shots the levels look slightly at an angle when they should be centred. For example when you look behind me when I'm sitting down the door doesn't look like it is at a horizontal angle and looks as though it is titling to my side. This could be fixed by checking before check shot that the camera is level. Also we could practice the match on action shot so that we manage to get the true meaning of it. We can achieve this by planning it better so that we know precisely what shots we want to use and how we can to display it. Finally we should try to show more of a range of shots. Perhaps we could use more extreme close ups and wide shots to highlight how we have the ability to be able to film these.
